Combining professional carpentry skills with a passion for wellness, we dove into the world of traditional bath cultures. Inspired by Finnish sauna traditions and global bath practices, we crafted our first sauna with love and dedication.

The word "väki" in the context of a sauna holds a special significance. Rooted in Finnish culture, "väki" refers to the spirit or essence residing within all elements.

Think of a sauna as a harmonious gathering of various väki: tulen väki, the spirit of fire; veden väki, the spirit of water; metsän väki, representing the magic of the forest; puun väki, the power of wood; raudan väki, the essence of iron; and vuoren väki, the soul of stones.

At Sauna Väki, we build our saunas by hand—no dropshipping here! With over a decade of carpentry experience, our founder has tackled everything from house remodels to custom cabinetry. We infuse each sauna with this expertise, using traditional techniques and top-notch materials. Our commitment to craftsmanship ensures you'll get a sauna that's both beautiful and durable.

We also love incorporating recycled, storied materials to create truly unique, one-of-a-kind builds. (Keep an eye out for what we do with some extra-special salvaged materials from the local YMCA that was recently demolished after relocating to a new facility)

We’re obsessed with getting it right. While many American builders haphazardly build poor-quality saunas, or avoid saunas altogether due to moisture and temperature challenges, we embrace these elements with a passion and respect for the wisdom of traditional Finnish sauna principles.

We address issues like wood movement, mold prevention, and efficiency, ensuring an unparalleled experience. Equipped with over 2000 years of sauna wisdom from the Finns, we aim to educate and empower both builders and consumers alike.

Community is at the heart of sauna, and we love giving back! Sauna Väki participates in events like the Suddenly Sleepy Sleepwalk 5k, Butte to Butte Race, and Ignite: Cascadia Campout Fundraiser. We support FUSEE: Firefighters United for Safety, Ethics, and Ecology, and partner with community-oriented festivals and gatherings.

We also host regular, sauna-centric gatherings to promote a more robust, healthy, happy, and interconnected community.

The future looks bright! We're planning more custom sauna builds, standardized models, and increased accessibility. We aim to empower the DIY spirit of sauna culture with workshops, consultations, and online educational materials. By partnering with other skilled sauna builders and vendors, we want to enhance the sauna experience with high-quality accessories and products.
